Rooftop Equipment

Advantages:
- Minimal vertical distribution (refrigerant or condenser water only)
- Individual floor control and metering
- Phased installation as building completes
- Reduced central plant size and complexity
Disadvantages:
- Equipment in occupied spaces (noise, maintenance access)

Zoning by Height

Pressure Reduction Stations
Pressure reduction stations (PRS) enable single-zone hydronic distribution while managing static pressure.
Pressure-Reducing Valves (PRVs)
Function: Automatically reduce upstream pressure to constant downstream setpoint.
Application: Installed at individual terminal units or at floor levels. Protects terminal units from excessive static pressure. Allows single central plant to serve full building height.
Configuration:
- Upstream pressure: static pressure + system operating pressure
