Technical skills and knowledge in HVAC:
• Minimum of 15 years experience in technical service required, with work related to a mechanical contractor service business that services large commercial/corporate facilities, building operations and maintenance. Including knowledge and technical understanding of HVAC systems, building automation systems, chillers, boilers, compressors, plumbing systems, etc.
• Experience, formal training and certifications or mechanical contractor licenses for; HVAC systems, refrigeration, building control systems, boilers etc.
• Knowledge and understanding of building operating systems, including, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, building automation and fire and life safety systems.
• Experience of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant design
• Extensive experience of decentralised energy procurement including district heating
• Experience of energy system operation
• Experience in renewable energy field
• Experience with the design and engineering of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems for the commercial and governmental markets including general office buildings, educational, laboratory spaces and healthcare markets.
• Proficiency in the design of the following systems: constant and variable air systems variable and constant flow hydronic systems (chilled, heating, and condenser water), water source heat pumps, grease exhaust, laboratory fume exhaust, variable refrigerant flow, clean rooms, and data center cooling strategies.
• Knowledge and experience evaluating mechanical systems such as HVAC, motors, distribution systems, central plants and control systems. Knowledge of HVAC equipment such as chillers, air handlers and chilled/heating water distribution networks. Experienced with the design of refrigeration systems, fan and exhaust systems, air distribution, piping networks and control systems.
• Experience with and ability to develop design drawings from concept through construction documentation using AutoCad, Instalsoft, Magicad, Sabkom, Revit. Ability to develop project specifications.
• Experience working with existing building renovations and HVAC system renovations design.
• Proficient in the design of controls for HVAC systems.
• Perform engineering calculations, load calculations, BREEAM compliance.
• Perform necessary analysis for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
• Properly lay out all air and water side systems on working drawings.
• Coordinate HVAC requirements with other design disciplines.
• Edit specifications to reflect the project requirements.
• Develop sections and elevations of complex ductwork and piping areas.
• Determine equipment room sizes and system space requirements during SD and DD phases.
• Develop one-line diagrams of air and water flows.
• Understand fan and pump curves to properly select equipment for application.
• Use psychometric chart properly for any HVAC systems.
• Meet with vendors to determine specification requirements for application.
• Performs field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects.
• Modify sequences of operations for AHUs, CHW and HW systems.
• Respond to RFIs for the project and accurately review submittals.
• Meet with Contractors to review design details.
